ABOUT US
The Baltimore-D.C. Building Trades is the Local Affiliate of North America’s Building Trades Unions that supports the 22 construction unions in the greater Baltimore/Washington, DC/Northern Virginia region - which represent thousands of skilled craft professionals in the building and construction industry. Its mission is to work with industry, government and community leaders to raise industry standards and provide opportunity.

By encouraging public and private investments in the construction industry that will provide continued and increased access to career training and employment, the Baltimore-D.C. Building Trades promote opportunities through partnerships in pre-apprenticeship and jointly-managed apprenticeship programs throughout the greater Baltimore/Washington, DC/Northern Virginia region while providing value to the industry and strengthening the communities in which we live and work.
OUR VISION
By working with the community, owners, developers, contractors, and elected officials we encourage the use of a high-road construction model that allows for construction workers to be paid a family-sustaining wage, access to benefits for themselves and their family, be able to retire with dignity, and feel safe on the job site. Through apprenticeship- and journeyperson-upgrading, we are able to provide the most highly skilled workforce to our contractor partners in the industry. Through local outreach to community organizations, schools, job readiness providers, and government organizations we can prepare the next generation of construction workers through use of apprenticeship readiness, and make young adults and students aware of the opportunity in the construction industry.
